Special Programs
In-person on the Dartmouth campus!
Spanish for Healthcare Professionals
Join us June 23 - 29, 2024 for our return to in-person classes!
This program will encompass Spanish language and grammar contextualized in a medical setting, utilizing both general and healthcare-specific vocabulary, so that medical professionals will gain skills and confidence needed for interactions with their patients and community. All adult Spanish learners are welcome to attend with the understanding that the curriculum is focused on healthcare.
As you see from the schedule, you will have Master Classes taught by those who are true masters of their trade, and Reinforcement Sessions (drills) conducted by well trained language enthusiasts.
•The role of the Master Teacher (MT) is to deliver and help you understand the material and lessons of the day.
Master Teachers (MTs) are college-level faculty trained in the Rassias Method®. MTs each have their own special connection to the language that they bring to the classroom. We have tenured professors, private school teachers, dramaturges, musicians, college deans, and literature specialists in our eclectic ranks. Together, our MTs provide a varied and interesting perspective on the language and culture that they teach.
•The role of the Assistant Teacher (AT) is to take that material and break it down in order for participants to use it immediately, both in repetition of scenarios for rhythm and pronunciation purposes and in manipulating grammatical structures while hearing the sentences flow.
Assistant Teachers (ATs) come from Dartmouth College and beyond. We have native speakers, graduate students, undergraduates, and general language enthusiasts. Our ATs, through their divergent backgrounds, share a passion for language, for teaching, and for bringing language to life.
Highly skilled and thoroughly trained, our ATs reinforce material taught in the Master Class through rapid-fire language exercises. Drills are conducted with a choreographed delivery that replicates the rhythm of the language, building confidence in the use of the language in a nonthreatening, noncompetitive environment.
